Andre Da Costa says in reply to Natsum's post on July 10, 2015: 'No, it will not work, it is not supported. You can setup a new Virtual Machine using Hyper-V, but you will have to provide your own Windows XP license. The following updates are the latest supported Visual C redistributable packages for Visual Studio 2015, 2017 and 2019. Included is a baseline version of the Universal C Runtime see MSDN for details.

Purpose
This documentation provides information about the Windows Virtual PC COM interface.
Where applicable
Windows Virtual PC is the latest Microsoft virtualization technology; it enables you to run many productivity applications on a virtual Windows environment, with a single click, directly from Windows 7. You can create separate virtual machines on top of your Windows 7 desktop. Each virtual machine emulates a complete hardware system—from processor to network card—in a self-contained, isolated software environment, enabling the simultaneous operation of otherwise incompatible systems.
